August 8, 2006: Two Piratey NotesSince it's been almost a week since I grabbed the Illuminator and babbled about pirates . . .First, an idea whose time has come. Use pirates to teach science. Really, why not? Yes, it's silly. But not stupid. And we've all seen enough stupid recently that we ought to be able to tell the difference.
Second: After so many years of hearing "They're destroying the rainforests to make napkins!", we don't usually think of McDonald's as a friend of the ecology. But McDonald's has been doing its bit recently to save the planet. Their recent promotion had kids all over the country dressing up as pirates . . . which, as we should all know by now, will help reverse global warming. The Flying Spaghetti Monster says it, so it must be true. |
